With Christmas on its way you may be starting to think about gift ideas for some of your loved ones. It can be so difficult to buy for someone who has an obsession with interior design, especially because it’s an addiction with a high price tag. However, just because your person likes interior design doesn’t mean you have to buy them expensive furniture or art for that matter. There’s smaller less expensive items that you can gift that will be just as cherished and add to the overall aesthetic of their home. As an interior design lover myself, I can guarantee these gift ideas will be a major hit!

1. Johnathan Adler Décor
Johnathan Alder is an American interior designer, potter and author. He is most known for his whimsical and fun styles that I personally find hard not to love. I was lucky enough to see his exhibit at the Interior Design Show in Toronto and it was exactly what you’d think; utterly amazing! His style is certainly anything but boring. Although some of his pieces can be on the pricey side, they will absolutely bring fun and excitement to any room.
2. Trays and Platters
As someone who loves interior design myself, you can never really go wrong with anything that adds a decorative touch to your home. You may be the type of person that would never see a tray or platter as “décor”. But I’m here to tell you it absolutely is. If you have a person in you’re life who loves having parties or small get togethers, receiving a tray or a platter would be such a great gift. There’s nothing better than going to someone’s house and having snacks laid out for everyone to pick at. Not to mention a cute one will really add to the overall atmosphere.
3. Tableware
Any type of table décor can really add to the overall look of a dining area. This is another thing that you may not view as home décor but for anyone who likes interior design, they will see it differently. I incorporate table décor into my projects when I want to elevate the design. There’s so many creative ways that you can go about decorating a table and it really does a lot for your home. This is a less expensive option and if you’re clumsy like me, want extra tableware around the house?
4. Coffee Table Books
Coffee table books are such a solid gift because it really is a two in one. Not only are they a gorgeous element to add to your coffee table but there are amazing books to read and look at. You can chose any type of coffee table book depending on the person’s interests. I chose fashion books because that’s just another topic I really love on top of interior design. Of course if you’re person loves interior design, photography, art, travel, etc. You can get a book for that. You can truly find a coffee table book for any subject.
6. Cozy Throws
I think this is especially a good gift for Christmas since we’re beginning to roll into the winter months. There’s nothing like cozying on the sofa on a cold winter’s day with a nice hot drink and a comfy blanket or throw. The best part is that when you’re done with it, you fold it back up and it acts a decorative piece.
6. Candles and Candle Holders
Not only are candles great décor pieces to have but they make your home smell amazing! Interior design is all about creating an experience and that can be done in so many ways apart from visual experience. I tend to make fun of boyfriend often for his addiction to candles. But I have to be honest and say I love the ambience a candle creates. There’s nothing better than dimming your lights and having your favorite scent burning in the background.
