Decorating for Halloween can be such a fun part about this time of year. That’s why I decided I wanted to come up with some pumpkin ideas that were a little different for this year. I absolutely love getting creative and finding ways that I can make things my own. I decided to go onto Pinterest this year for some pumpkin ideas and ended up finding some really cool concepts.

That’s not to say I didn’t get a whole lot of stares at the grocery store this year when people witnessed me shoveling my way through the pumpkins the second week of September! I even heard a lady say ” It’s too early for that” lol. Not to mention I picked a cart with a broken wheel so it was squeaking all the way to the cash register. I just wanted to buy my pumpkins in peace okay!?
That being said, if some of us are deciding to decorate a little earlier this year because it brings us the teeniest amount of joy, why not!? After the havoc 2020 has inflicted this year, anything that brings us happiness is totally worth doing. I think we can all agree that we deserve a little joy in our lives right now!
Instead of going with traditional pumpkin carving this year, I decided I wanted to do something different. First of all pumpkin carving is not the most relaxing thing for me. It’s probably because I’m the ultimate klutz and I know I can’t be trusted with a knife. Second of all I just love finding new ways to be creative.

1. Painting Pumpkins
I mean if you’re looking for an easy way to decorate a pumpkin, this is it. I simply just painted the pumpkin in a few coats of a colour of my choice, let it dry and tied some ribbon around the top. No knives needed. It was also a lot less messy in my opinion because I didn’t need to take all the insides out.

2. Using Them For “Boos”
This is perfect for anyone who’s having a party or some friends over for Halloween. Although you will need to use a knife for this one, it’s still pretty easy. You’re simply going to paint the pumpkin, let it dry, carve out the top, fill the pumpkin with ice and stick your favourite beverages inside. You may want to make your opening a little larger than mine if you want to place a lot of bottles in your pumpkin. I wanted the top of my mine to still fit so I could keep the pumpkin, therefore decided not to make it any larger.

3. A Pumpkin Vase
I love the look of this and it’s also another really easy way to decorate a pumpkin. All you have to do it paint the pumpkin, carve out the top, wrap some ribbon around it and place the arrangement inside. The hardest part about it is probably putting together an arrangement you like. Instead of going with a very summery arrangement of flowers, I would lean towards buying something that reminds you more of the Fall.

4. Pumpkins as a Decor Piece
This is ultimately what I ended up with after creating all of my pumpkins. I placed them on top of a built in desk in our apartment. The space was pretty deserted so I figured it was a good spot for something to go. However, you could place your pumpkins in so many different area of your home as a “decor piece”. You could use them to decorate your table, your front porch, you’re kitchen counter or even find a cute spot on the floor. The options are unless.
